Tulsi Engineering Works started as a tiny operation, and we’ve grown a bit, but we still feel like a small shop. The neighbors change over the years, but the noise of the estate stays the same. There is a constant hum of generators and the clanging of hammers from the units next door. Inside our place, it’s organized chaos. We have a rhythm to the day. We start by checking the power, then we get the motors running. My desk is tucked into a corner under a staircase where it’s a bit quieter so I can make phone calls. It’s not a fancy office; I have a calendar from three years ago still hanging there because I like the picture. We don’t spend money on decor or shiny signs. All our money goes back into the machines and keeping the roof from leaking when the monsoon hits. We’ve had some tough years, but we’re still here. Most of our customers come by word of mouth. They tell a friend, and that friend comes to Makarpura looking for us. We don't have a sales team. We just have our hands and the work we do every day. It’s honest, and it keeps us busy. We take pride in just keeping the shop open and the work moving. It’s just how it is in Makarpura.
