Shree Om Engineering Works

Our place, Shree Om Engineering Works, is located on Gorwa Main Road, right across from the BIDC Industrial Estate. We occupy the units at C 81, 82, and 83. It is a big space but it’s always filled with scrap metal and machines. The sound of grinders and welding is constant from morning until evening. Most of our work comes from the factories nearby that need parts repaired or some steel frames welded together. My hands are almost always covered in dark oil and grease, and my clothes have little burn marks from the sparks. We aren't a big corporation, just a few of us who know how to handle the lathes and the milling machines. The floor is concrete and usually pretty dirty with metal shavings, though we sweep up when we can. Sometimes the traffic on Gorwa Main Road makes it hard to hear ourselves talk, so we just shout over the noise. People drop off broken equipment and we see what we can do to fix it up. It’s not fancy work, but it’s needed. The heat from the welding torches makes the workshop quite warm in the summer months. We keep a cooler of water in the corner. We don't have an office, just a small table where we keep the invoices. If you need something made out of iron or steel, we are usually here working.
