Shree Jay Ambe Dairy

The dairy is located in Jakshi Chamundi Nagar, near the R T Nagar post office. We open very early in the morning, usually before the sun is even up. That is when the milk trucks arrive and we have to get everything ready for the neighborhood. People start showing up at 6 AM with their steel cans. It is a busy hour. You can hear the clinking of bottles and the sound of people talking about the news. We sell milk, curd, and some paneer when we have it fresh. The floor is usually a bit wet from the ice and the cleaning, but that is just how a dairy is. We have been at this spot, Post No 94, for quite a long time. My family has always been involved in this. It is hard work because there are no days off. Cows do not stop giving milk just because it is a Sunday. In the afternoons, it gets quiet and I sometimes take a nap on the bench in the back. Then it picks up again in the evening when people come home from work to get milk for their tea. We know almost everyone who lives on this street. We know who wants the thick milk and who is looking for a discount. It is a local life and we are happy with it. The shop is simple, with white tiles and a few refrigerators that hum all day.
