S M Engineering Works

You can find us over at 299/A in the Gidc Industrial Estate. We are right near the new telephone exchange in Makarpura which makes it a bit easier to give people directions. S M Engineering Works has been at this location for a good bit now. The workshop is usually a mess of tools and scrap metal because we are always in the middle of some project or another. It’s not the cleanest place in the world but it’s where we get the work done. The sound of the machines is pretty constant from morning until we close up for the evening. Makarpura is always busy so there’s a lot of movement around the estate. We don't have a big office staff or anything like that. It’s just us out there on the floor most of the time. Sometimes the power goes out in the afternoon and we have to sit outside for a bit until it comes back on. We know the neighbors at the other units and sometimes we borrow a tool if we are in a pinch. We don't do much marketing because people usually find us through word of mouth or by seeing the sign near the telephone exchange. It is just a regular engineering shop where we try to do a decent job on whatever comes our way. We are just local people trying to make a living and keep the machines running. The cold water fridge we have is a total lifesaver during the hot months.
