Arc Weld Engineers

We’ve been at Survey No. 987 in the G.I.D.C. Industrial Estate for a while now. Arc Weld Engineers is just a small outfit, really. We spend most of our time under welding masks or grinding down edges. The G.I.D.C. is a big place, and it can be a bit of a maze if you don’t know your way around the different survey numbers. Our shop isn't anything special to look at, just a concrete floor and some heavy benches. We do a lot of repair work and custom welding for other businesses nearby. Sometimes it's a broken frame, other times it's a bunch of brackets. The air is usually thick with that metallic smell you get when you're burning rods all day. We keep the doors open to get a bit of a breeze, though it doesn't help much when the weather is hot. It’s a lot of physical labor and getting your hands dirty. We don't have a marketing guy or a website that gets updated. If someone needs something welded, they usually just drop by with the part in their truck. We look at it, tell them what can be done, and get to it. It’s steady work and we like the routine of it. The machines are old but we take care of them so they keep running. It’s just how we do things here.
