Shree Prakash Engineering Works

Down at Plot No. 986-4 in the Gidc Ind. Estate, you’ll find us at Shree Prakash Engineering Works. It’s a pretty standard workshop, honestly. We’ve got the lathes running most of the morning, and there is always a layer of fine metal shavings on the ground. We mostly do job work, fixing parts or making new ones from drawings people bring in on scraps of paper. Sometimes the drawings are clear, and sometimes we have to guess a bit and call the customer to clarify what they actually meant. The tea guy comes around twice a day, and that’s usually when we take a break from the noise. Our shop isn't very large, so we have to be careful how we stack the finished pieces so nobody trips over them. It gets quite hot in the summer under the tin roof, but we’re used to it by now. We’ve been at this same spot for quite a while. The machines are old, but they are solid and don't break down often if we keep them oiled. We don't spend money on fancy signs or advertisements. People just know we are here in the industrial estate. We handle a lot of different engineering tasks, mostly manual work that requires a steady hand. It’s just a regular workplace where we try to stay busy and keep the machines humming along. It is not always perfect, but the work gets finished eventually.
