Quick Bricks

Our yard, Quick Bricks, is on Plot No. 2 within the Shivani Society area, right along Ratna Road. It is very close to the petrol pump, which makes it easy for the trucks to fuel up before they head out. We deal with bricks and building materials all day long. It is a dusty job, and by the time we go home, it is usually all over our clothes. The yard is mostly open space so we can stack everything up. We have a small office on the side, but nobody spends much time in there unless they are doing the books. Most of us are out on the lot moving things around or talking to the drivers. The weather really dictates how our day goes. If it rains, things get messy fast and the ground gets soft. On sunny days, the heat reflects off the bricks and it gets quite warm. We have a small crew that has been together for a while now. We know the local builders and the people living around Ratna Road. It is a simple business without any corporate layers. We just make sure the inventory is right and the orders get loaded correctly. There is always a bit of noise from the traffic on the main road and the clinking of the bricks being moved. It is just honest, physical work that keeps us busy from morning until late afternoon. The dust never really settles but that is just how it is here in the yard.
