Priyanka Bandhani

We are located in the Manorath Complex, specifically units T P 13 and 14. It’s out at the 12th Cross in the 6th Block of Gubbanna Layout in Asoj. The area is a bit quieter than the main market hubs, which we like. We focus on bandhani here. It’s a lot of work with the ties and dyes. The shop smells a bit like the dyes sometimes, but you get used to it. We have the two units joined so there is enough room to spread the fabric out. Bandhani takes up a lot of space when you’re showing the patterns. The complex is easy enough to find once you get into Gubbanna Layout. We have some old wooden tables where we lay things out. It’s just a few of us working. Sometimes the delivery trucks have a hard time with the 12th Cross because the road is narrow, but we manage to get the bundles in. We keep things pretty basic. There aren't any big signs or flashing lights. We just have the name on the door and the windows. Most days involve a lot of phone calls with the workers who do the tying. It’s a slow process making these, so we don't rush. The sun hits the front of the shop in the afternoon, making it quite bright inside. We just pull the shutters down a bit and keep working. It is a long way from the city but it’s peaceful.
