New Jay Ambay Trunk & Furniture is located in Ankhol, right near the Balaji Township area. If you walk by, you’ll probably hear the sound of hammers or see some of the metal trunks we keep outside. We work with a lot of wood and metal here, so the shop is usually covered in a bit of dust and shavings. It’s a local place where we make things that people actually need for their homes, like sturdy trunks for storage or simple furniture pieces. We don't have a big showroom with bright lights. Instead, we have our workspace where the actual building happens. Being near Balaji Township means we see a lot of the same faces coming by. Sometimes people have a specific size in mind for a trunk and we try to get it done for them. It is a lot of physical labor, lifting heavy sheets of metal or moving timber around. My hands are usually pretty rough by the end of the week. We keep things simple and just focus on making stuff that is solid and won't fall apart after a month. It’s a small operation here in Ankhol. We just open up the shutters every morning and get to work on whatever is on the list for that day. It isn't a complicated life, but it keeps us busy and we like being part of the neighborhood. We just do the work and hope people find it useful.
