Maharaja Flower Mart

You can find us at Raopura, Plot Number 453 in the Dr Charat Singh Colony. We are right in Andheri East, directly across from the Khadigram Udyog building. The shop is a hive of activity especially during the festival months when everyone needs flowers for their homes. We have big plastic tubs filled with water everywhere and the floor is usually covered in discarded stems and leaves. It is a bit of a squeeze inside because we try to stock as much variety as we can. The humidity in Andheri makes it hard to keep the lilies fresh so we have to be very careful with the fans and the water spray. We get our stock from the wholesale market very early and sometimes the quality isn't what we hoped for but we make do. People come in from the colony and ask for specific colors for their pujas or for gifts. We don't have a website or anything like that. People just know us from walking by or hearing about us from their neighbors. The street outside is always noisy with rickshaws and people rushing to the station. We sit on small wooden stools and weave the flowers together while chatting about the news. It is a simple life but the colors and the scents make the long hours go by a bit faster. We close up once the last bucket is empty or it gets too late.
