Shilpa Engineering Works

If you head over to Plot No. 859-2-c in the Gidc Ind. Estate, you’ll find Shilpa Engineering Works. It’s a basic workshop. We don’t have air conditioning or fancy carpets, just the tools we need and a few sturdy tables. The floor has some oil stains, and there’s always a bit of iron filings in the corners, no matter how much we sweep. We’ve been at this plot for quite some time. The work is mostly manual, and it keeps us busy from Monday to Saturday. We don't have any big mission statements or anything like that. We just try to do the engineering work right so we don't have to do it twice. Sometimes the coffee is cold and the machines are temperamental, but we just keep at it. People in the estate know us as the ones at Plot No. 859-2-c who are always there. We don't do much in the way of promotion. If someone needs something made or fixed, they usually just walk in. It’s a small, local operation. Most of the guys here have grease under their fingernails and a lot of experience in their heads. We aren't looking to change the world; we’re just looking to get the day’s work done so we can go home to our families. It’s hard work, but it’s what we know. We’re just a regular shop in a busy industrial estate, doing what we can.
