Prem Engineering is located at Plot No. 837/7 in the GIDC Estate. It’s a noisy place to work, but that’s engineering for you. Between the grinding and the metal hitting metal, you have to raise your voice to be heard most of the time. We’ve been at this plot for a while, and the floor is stained with oil and marks from where the heavy machines have sat for years. We don’t try to hide the fact that this is a workshop. We aren't interested in looking polished for visitors because we don't get many visitors who aren't here for work. Our main goal every morning is just to get through the queue of jobs we have lined up on the board. We use machines that are old but reliable, mostly because we know how to fix them ourselves when they stop working. The air in the estate can be a bit heavy with the smell of metal and coolant, but we’re used to it. Our staff is just a handful of guys who know their way around a lathe and a welding torch. We don't have a big HR department or any of that. If there’s a problem, we talk about it over tea in the afternoon. We just want to make sure the parts we make are solid and fit where they are supposed to go. It’s basic, manual work, and we’re fine with that. We just lock up and head home.
