Neha Engineering Works

Vadodara gets incredibly hot in the summer, and inside the shed at Plot No 766 in GIDC Makarpura, it feels even hotter. Neha Engineering Works is a busy place where there is always something being welded or cut. The GIDC area is full of noise, and we fit right in with the clanging of metal and the sound of the compressors. We have been working out of this spot for a long time. The floor is covered in metal shavings that we have to sweep up every evening so nobody slips. We do a lot of turning and milling, and the machines have that specific hum that stays in your ears even after you go home. It’s not the cleanest job in the world, and our clothes usually have a few burn holes or oil spots by the end of the week. We keep a small corner with a table for having lunch and taking a quick break from the heat. Most of the time, we are just focused on the drawings people bring us, trying to figure out how to make the parts fit together. There is a lot of heavy lifting involved with the raw steel bars and the finished components. We don't worry much about how the front of the shop looks, as long as the work we send out is done properly. It's just a regular engineering shop in the industrial zone.
