National Engineers

You can find National Engineers over at Plot No. 511-19 in the GIDC Industrial Estate. It’s a fairly large plot, so we have plenty of room for the bigger jobs that come through. We’ve been operating out of this GIDC spot for a good while. The building has seen better days, maybe needs a new coat of paint, but the equipment inside is what matters. We do a lot of heavy-duty fabrication and some repair work for the textile mills nearby. It’s a lot of cutting and joining steel. The sparks are always flying in the back corner where the welders sit. We keep a stack of raw material out in the yard, which gets a bit rusty when it rains, but we clean it up before using it. Our team is mostly guys who grew up in the area. We don’t have much of a hierarchy. The supervisor is usually right there in the thick of it with everyone else. We eat lunch together under the tree in the corner of the lot. It’s not a corporate environment at all. We just focus on getting the dimensions right and making sure the welds are solid. There’s a lot of back-and-forth with the suppliers, but we’ve got a good routine down. It’s just a regular day of engineering work for us at Plot 511-19.
