If you come down to Plot No. 908 5 in the Gidc Ind. Estate, you’ll find Mahima Engineers. It’s a smallish engineering place where we handle a lot of different mechanical tasks. There’s always a hum of some motor running or someone grinding something down. We don’t have a front desk person or anything like that, so usually, whoever is closest to the door just wipes their hands on a rag and says hello. We deal with parts and repairs mostly. Some of the machines we use are older than the staff, but they still work just fine if you know how to treat them. It gets hot in the summer, especially when all the equipment is running at once, but we manage with a few old fans. We don't do much advertising because most people just know we’re here in the estate. It’s a practical kind of life. You come in, you look at the drawings, and you try to figure out the best way to make the part. Sometimes things don’t go exactly as planned and we have to start over, but that’s just engineering for you. We’ve got a lot of spare parts tucked away in corners that we might need someday. It’s just a honest day's work for us here, nothing too complicated or fancy about it. The neighborhood is always noisy with other shops doing the same sort of things, but we like it that way.
