You can find Laxmi Engineering over at the Abhishek Complex in GIDC. We’re right next to the Bank of Baroda, which makes it easy for people to give directions. The shop number is 36/23. It’s not a huge place, but we managed to fit all the necessary machinery inside. We do general engineering work for local clients who need things machined or fabricated. There’s usually a stack of iron bars or pipes outside the door waiting to be brought in. Inside, it smells like grease and burnt metal most of the time. We don’t have a fancy office upstairs, just a small desk where we keep the ledger and some old catalogs. Sometimes we have to shout to be heard over the grinders. The walls could probably use a new coat of paint, but we’re more focused on getting the jobs out the door. We handle small batches mostly, things that need a bit of manual attention rather than just big automated runs. It’s a humble setup. We’ve got a couple of guys who are really good with their hands and can figure out a fix for almost any mechanical part. We’re just local people doing engineering work for the neighborhood and the bigger units nearby. We keep the doors open six days a week, and usually, someone is there even on Sundays if there is a rush job to finish.
