Down at Plot No. 351-7 and 8, things are usually noisy. That is where K P Engineers Fabricators is set up in the Gidc Ind. Estate. If you walk by, you’ll probably hear the sound of metal being cut or someone grinding down a weld. It’s hard work, and our clothes usually show it by the end of the shift. We’ve got a good amount of space across those two plots to lay out the steel and get things put together. It isn’t a clean place, because you can’t really do fabrication and keep things spotless at the same time. There are scraps of metal and tools everywhere. We know where every wrench is, even if it doesn't look like it. Most of the guys here have been working with their hands for a long time. We just take the drawings and try to make the pieces fit together like they should. Some days are hotter than others, especially when the machines have been running since 8 AM. We take our breaks when we can, usually sitting on whatever is handy. It's just a regular shop where we do what needs doing for the projects that come in. We don't spend much time on the computer unless we have to. It's more about the physical work and getting the dimensions right so the client doesn't have to send it back to us. It's a living.
