Our shop, Jay Engineers, is located at Plot No. 752-a-7 in the GIDC Industrial Estate. It’s not the biggest unit on the block, but it’s ours and it serves us well. We’ve spent many years here, mostly focused on small-scale engineering work that requires a steady hand. The layout is simple: machines on one side, a small space for storage on the other, and a tiny corner where we keep the records. It’s a no-frills kind of place. We don't put much stock in appearances. What matters is that the machines run and the work gets done correctly. The GIDC is a loud place, especially during the middle of the week, and we’ve gotten used to the constant hum of the neighboring factories. We see the same faces every day, from the tea stall guy to the truck drivers making their rounds. It’s a predictable life, and we find some comfort in that routine. We don't go looking for trouble or trying to expand too fast. We just want to keep the lights on and the customers coming back when they have something that needs fixing or fabricating. There’s a certain pride in looking at a finished piece of work and knowing it was done right here on our floor. We might get a bit grimy during the process, but that’s part of the trade. We just stay focused on the tasks.
