At J S Engineering Co, located at Plot No. 495-3 in the GIDC Industrial Estate, we mostly deal with mechanical parts and assembly. We are right next door to a few other shops, so there is always a lot of activity on our strip of the road. The workshop is laid out with different sections for cutting, welding, and finishing. It’s a bit of a tight squeeze when we have several large projects going at once, but we manage the space as best we can. We have a couple of older technicians who have been doing this for thirty years, and their experience is really what keeps us going. They can tell if a machine is running wrong just by the sound it makes. We don't use much fancy software; a lot of our drawings are still done on paper or chalked out on the worktables. It’s a very practical environment. Sometimes the power goes out in the estate and we have to wait it out, which gives us a chance to clean up the scraps or oil the tools. We don't do much advertising because word of mouth in GIDC is usually enough to keep the orders coming in. We value being able to finish a job and see it loaded onto a truck. It’s honest work that pays the bills and keeps the staff employed. We just take it one day at a time.
