We've been at Plot No. 54-3-a in Gidc for quite a while now. Most days start early before the sun gets too hot because the workshop floor can turn into an oven by noon. You can hear the machines running from the road, that rhythmic thud and hum that lets everyone know we are actually busy. It is not a fancy place by any means. There is grease on most surfaces and the office desk is usually covered in drawings that have coffee rings on them. People come by asking if we can fix this part or make that one, and we just look at the metal and see what can be done. Being in Gidc means we are surrounded by other shops doing similar things, so there is always someone nearby if we need a specific tool or just a quick chat during a tea break. We don't spend much time worrying about how the front looks or if the sign is perfectly straight. The work happens in the back where the lathes are. Sometimes the power goes out and we just sit outside for a bit until it comes back. That is just how it goes here. We have a few guys who have been with us since the start, and they know the quirks of every machine we own. It is simple work, mostly turning and cutting, but it keeps us busy from Monday to Saturday.
