Gurunanak Engineering Works

Our workshop, Gurunanak Engineering Works, sits over at Plot No. 967-2-1. If you know the Gidc Ind. Estate, you know it can be a bit of a maze sometimes. We’ve had this space for a while. It isn't a large place, but we fit everything we need inside. There’s usually a couple of us working on various bits of machinery. The grease on our hands never really comes off fully. That is just part of the life here. We handle a lot of different requests. Sometimes it’s something small, other times it takes all week to finish one piece. We don’t spend much time talking; the machines are too loud for that anyway. You have to shout just to be heard over the cutting tools. We’ve seen the estate change over the years. Some shops close, new ones open up. We just stay focused on the tasks at hand. It gets dusty, especially during the dry months. We open the big doors to let some air in when it’s stagnant. There is always something that needs fixing or turning. We keep a ledger on a messy desk in the corner. It works for us. We aren't trying to be anything other than a local engineering shop. People around here know where we are. We just keep our heads down and make sure the work gets done before the sun goes down. It is a long day usually but we don't mind it too much as long as the orders are steady.
