We are based at Plot No. 397 in the GIDC Industrial Estate. The shop is full of the usual engineering stuff like lathes, drills, and bits of steel everywhere. It is a bit cramped because we have a lot of equipment packed into the space. The floor has those permanent oil stains that never really come out, no matter how much you scrub. It’s a loud place when everything is running at once. You have to speak up to be heard over the drone of the motors. We don't have a receptionist or a waiting room. Usually, if a customer comes by, they just stand near the entrance until one of us notices and wipes our hands on a rag to come talk. We do a lot of custom work, so there is always some puzzle to solve with a piece of metal that won't fit or a tool that's gone dull. The GIDC area is always humming with activity, which is good for business but can be tiring. We usually take a breather around four in the afternoon for some tea and a snack. It’s a rough-and-ready kind of place. We aren't trying to impress anyone with how the shop looks. We just focus on the task at hand and try to get it finished so we can move on to the next one. It’s just how things are done here in our small unit.
