Ambika Engineering Works

Being at Plot No. 986-18b in the Gidc Ind. Estate means we are right in the thick of things. Ambika Engineering Works has been operating out of this small corner for years. It is mostly just the sound of lathes turning and the smell of cutting oil everywhere. We don’t have a big reception area or anyone to answer phones all day. Most of the time, we are out on the shop floor checking on the parts. It gets pretty loud inside, so you have to yell a bit to be heard. We take on various mechanical jobs and repair work that locals bring to us. Some days are slower than others, but there is always something that needs fixing or a part that needs to be turned down to size. The roof leaks a little when it rains hard, but we just move the machines out of the way. It’s a practical life. We aren't trying to be the biggest shop in the estate, just a shop where people can get their work done without a lot of fuss. We use older machines mostly because they still work fine and we know how to fix them ourselves. The tea stall down the road sees us at least three times a day. If you come by looking for us, look for the pile of shavings near the door and the blue door that stays open for air.
