Mahavir Ice Cream Centre

Mahavir Ice Cream Centre is right at Jamalpur Cross Road in Ahmedabad. It is a busy spot at G/14. The shop isn't huge, but we have enough space for the freezers and a few stools. Every day starts with checking the temperature of the machines. The noise from R.C. Dutt Road is always there, even late at night. We see a lot of people coming from work or just walking past the intersection. Some stop for a cone, others want a pack to take home. The floor gets a bit messy when it rains, so we are always mopping it up. It is a simple life here. My brother and I take turns at the counter. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we have to worry about the stock, but mostly things run okay. We have been here a long time and the neighbors know us by name. We don't have fancy decorations or big lights. Just the ice cream and the usual routine. Most days are hot, so the cold air from the freezer feels good on your face when you reach in. We just keep the place open and wait for the next person to walk through the door. It isn't anything special, just a local shop trying to stay busy in a crowded part of the city. We do our work and go home when the freezer is empty or it gets too late to stay open.
