Madhuli Bandhani Ghar

We are set up at number 16, quite close to the Raopura Police Station. There is also the hitekhan Hanuman temple nearby, which is a good landmark for people trying to find us in Vadodara. The area is usually quite lively with people coming and going from the station or the temple. Our shop is a bit small, but we make the most of the space we have. Most of our day is spent handling the fabrics and making sure the colors look right. We don't have any fancy displays, just shelves piled high with our stock. It can get a bit overwhelming when a big shipment comes in, and we have to find room for everything. My family has been doing this for a long time, so we know the routine by heart. Sometimes we have to sit on the floor to sort through the bundles because there isn't enough table space. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy from morning until late evening. We don't do much advertising; most people just know we are here by word of mouth. The shop smells like fresh dye and old wood. We try to keep things simple and just focus on the bandhani work we have in front of us. It’s not a corporate office, just a workspace where we get our hands dirty every single day.
