Jayesh Furniture Mart

Down in Sankheda, on Bazar Road, you’ll find Jayesh Furniture Mart. It’s a family thing, really. The smell of sawdust is the first thing you notice when you walk in. We’ve been making and selling furniture here for a long time. Sankheda is known for its woodwork, so we have a lot to live up to. Our shop is full of chairs, tables, and cabinets. Some are finished and some are still being worked on. We don't have a fancy showroom with bright lights. It’s just the workshop and the front area where people can see what we have. Bazar Road is always busy with people shopping for their homes. We often sit on the stools out front and watch the world go by when things are slow. Each piece of furniture takes time. You can’t rush the wood. Sometimes a customer wants something specific and we have to see if we can do it. The tools we use are old but they still work the best. My hands are always a bit rough from the sanding and the varnish. We don't do much online stuff; mostly people just walk in because they know where we are. It’s a quiet life in the bazar, but we like the craft. Building things that last is what matters to us at the end of the day. The tea here is always strong and the conversations with customers usually last longer than the actual sales.
