J. J. Sankheda Furniture

Our shop is in the Mangal Deep Complex on Productivity Road, right in the Alkapuri area. It’s a nice enough spot, and we get a good amount of people walking by while they’re out doing their shopping. We specialize in that traditional Sankheda style, which is very colorful and has all those distinct patterns. When you walk in, the first thing you notice is probably the bright reds and golds on the wood. We have a lot of the pieces displayed on the floor, but it’s a bit of a tight squeeze sometimes. We spend a lot of our time explaining how the lacquer work is done or helping someone pick out a swing for their porch. It’s a family-run kind of feel here. We don't have a big marketing department or anything like that. Usually, it’s just us talking to customers and showing them the different designs we have in stock. The furniture is heavy, so moving things around to show a customer a different angle is a bit of a workout. We get a lot of regulars who have been buying from us for years, and now their kids are coming in too. It’s good to see familiar faces. We try to keep things simple and just focus on the furniture we have in front of us. It’s a steady job, and being in Alkapuri means there is always something happening outside on the road.
