Disha Engineers

If you go down to 783 Wadi, you will find us in the Shree Ambica Udhyog Nagar area of Shahibaug. It is an industrial patch where everyone is making something or fixing something. We are engineers, but that mostly means we spend our time around machines and metal parts. The workshop is always humming with the sound of motors. It gets hot inside during the afternoon, so we keep the big doors open to catch whatever breeze comes through Shahibaug. We work on various mechanical pieces that people bring to us. Sometimes it is a repair, other times we are making a part from scratch based on a drawing. It is slow, careful work. You cannot rush it or the metal will not sit right. We have a few lathes and some old drills that have been with us since we started. They still work better than the new stuff sometimes. Our floor is stained with oil and there are metal shavings everywhere, no matter how much we sweep. We eat our lunch together in the small cabin at the back. It is a simple life of grease and iron. We do not put on airs or use fancy words. If something is broken, we look at it and see if it can be fixed. That is the way we have always done things here at Disha and it seems to work for us.
