Devi Engineering

If you ever find yourself near Campa Cola Chowk in Vadodara, you’ll probably hear the noise from our workshop before you see the sign. Devi Engineering is tucked away in a busy spot where there is always someone moving something heavy. It’s a bit of a messy place, to be honest. There are metal scraps in the corners and the smell of machine oil is always hanging in the air. We don't spend much time worrying about how the office looks because we are usually busy with a lathe or a welding torch. Most of our guys have been here for years and they have the grease under their fingernails to prove it. We take on all sorts of jobs, from fixing a broken part to putting together something new. It gets loud and sweaty, especially in the afternoons when the sun hits the roof. We usually have tea delivered twice a day, which is when everyone actually stops talking for ten minutes. It’s not a corporate setup where you need an appointment two weeks in advance. People just roll up with a problem and we see if we can get it sorted. Vadodara is an industrial town, so there is always a demand for someone who knows how to handle steel and iron. We just keep our heads down and do the work that comes our way, day after day. It isn't always easy, but we have been doing this long enough that we know our way around a toolbox and can fix most things.
