Jiyan Engineering Work

The workshop at Jiyan Engineering Work is usually pretty loud from the moment we open up. We are situated in Ashok Estate, right near the Somatalav-Crossing on Dabhoi Road. If you are looking for us, we are quite close to the Gujarat Kata. It’s an industrial sort of area, so you expect the noise and the constant smell of metal and grease. We spend our days handling various jobs that come through the door, mostly involving welding or cutting pieces to size. The floor is usually covered in metal shavings by noon, no matter how many times we try to sweep. It’s hot work, especially when the afternoon sun hits the metal roof of the shed, but that is just part of the job. We have been here for a long time and the machines we use are old but they still do what they need to do for us. Sometimes the power cuts out and we have to take a break until it comes back on, which gives us a chance to sit outside for a bit with a cold drink. We don't have a receptionist or a fancy waiting room with glossy magazines. Usually, if someone comes by, they just find us at the back and we talk over the sound of the equipment. It is straightforward work and we don't try to make it seem like anything more than it is. Every day is about getting the measurements right and finishing the tasks on the list before we pack up and head home.
