Choksi Engineering

Choksi Engineering is over on Laheripura New Road, right by the Barhan Pura Naka. It’s an area where there’s always something being built or fixed. Our shop is filled with the smell of oil and the sound of metal clicking. We do engineering work, which means we spend a lot of time looking at parts and trying to figure out how they fit together. It’s not a clean job. There are metal shavings on the floor and our benches are covered in tools that have been used for years. We don’t have a fancy office or a secretary to take calls. If the phone rings, one of us just wipes our hands and picks it up. We’ve been at this location for a long time, and the building shows its age with some cracks in the plaster. We don't have a polished corporate image. We are just a group of people who know how to work with machines. Some days are long, especially when a repair is tougher than we thought. We take our tea together in the afternoon while sitting on old crates. People bring us things that are broken, and we see if we can make them work again. It’s practical work that requires a lot of patience. We just keep going until the job is done. There is a sense of satisfaction in finishing a difficult piece of work before we head home.
