Bapa Sitaram Engineering Works

Down here in the Gidc Estate in Makarpura, things never really stop moving. Our shop at A1/93-24 is right in the middle of it all. If you walk inside Bapa Sitaram Engineering Works, you’re going to find a lot of metal scraps and the smell of machine oil. That’s just how an engineering place is supposed to be, I think. We have some old lathes and a few newer machines that we use for whatever jobs come our way. Most days are spent looking at drawings or just figuring out how to fix a part that someone brought in. It’s loud because of the grinding and the clanking of tools, so we usually have to shout to hear each other. The tea stall guy knows exactly when to bring our afternoon round. We aren't trying to be some big corporate firm. We are just a few guys who know how to work with our hands and get things sized right. Sometimes a job takes longer than we thought, especially if a machine breaks down, but we stay late to finish it. The floor is always covered in those little metal curls from the cutters. It’s hard work and your hands get stained black by the end of the shift, but there’s a good feeling in finishing a solid piece of work. We’ve been at this for years and plan to stay right here working in the estate.
