Down here on Dadasiba Road in the Badhal Thor area of Kangra, we run our school. It’s a quiet part of the world, and the school building sits right among the hills. We have a decent view of the surroundings, though we spend most of our time looking at books and blackboards. The building is made of sturdy stone and concrete to handle the weather we get up here. It’s not a fancy modern structure; it’s more of a functional place that has been around for some time. We have a few rows of classrooms and a small area where the kids can play during their lunch break. Sometimes the mountain air gets quite chilly, so we all have to wrap up warm. The staff here are mostly locals who have lived in Kangra their whole lives. We don't use any slick advertising or anything like that. People just know us because their neighbors' kids come here. Our daily routine is pretty set—assembly in the morning, lessons until the afternoon, and then everyone heads home before it gets dark. We deal with the usual problems like lost textbooks or broken benches. It’s a simple life. We aren't trying to be the biggest or the most famous school; we just want to make sure the local kids get their lessons done properly every single day.
