Kushlakheri Kisan Producer Company Limited

Our group is mostly made up of people from around Kushlakhedi in the Ujjain district. Ranchod Anjana is the one who keeps all the files and paperwork at his home. Farming in this specific part of the country always has its highs and its lows. We aren't doing anything particularly high-tech or fancy here. Most of the time, we’re just standing around talking about the quality of the seeds or why the tractor is making that weird noise again. We started Kushlakheri Kisan Producer Company Limited because it seemed like the only way for the smaller farmers here to survive. It’s not a big operation with a shiny sign or a glass front. You would probably drive right past the place if you weren’t specifically looking for us. We spend our days out in the dust. When the harvest season finally arrives, things get incredibly frantic and nobody gets much sleep for a few weeks. We try to help each other out with the trucks and the selling part of the business. It is definitely better than trying to do every single thing by yourself. Sometimes the rain just doesn’t come when it is supposed to, and we all just sit around and feel anxious. That’s just the reality of our lives. We are local people who understand this specific land. Ujjain is a very busy city, but out here, it’s just the fields and the crops. It’s honest work, even if it leaves you exhausted.
