Satyam Shivam Sundaram

Our place, Satyam Shivam Sundaram, sits right on the main road in Hathipole. We are directly across from the old Hathipole Gate, which is a landmark everyone in Udaipur knows. Being on the main road means we deal with a lot of noise and dust from the traffic all day. It’s a very busy part of town, and there is always a crowd of people walking past our front door. We have a lot of items crammed into the shop, from the floor all the way up to the ceiling. It’s not the most organized looking place, but we know exactly where every single item is hidden. If you ask for something, we might have to climb a ladder or move a couple of chairs to get to it. We start our day early to beat the worst of the heat, though the road is already humming with vehicles by then. We don't have a big team or anything, just a few of us who have been doing this for years. We don't use any fancy sales talk. If we have what you need, we show it to you, and that is that. Sometimes tourists wander in because of the gate nearby, but mostly we serve the local people who live around here. It can get pretty exhausting by the evening, but we like the energy of the street. It’s a good spot to be in if you like seeing the world go by.
