Sanwari Brothers

Sanwari Brothers is tucked away at 102 in the Hathipole Loha Bazar. Being in Chamanpura means we are right in the thick of the metal market. If you’ve ever walked through Loha Bazar, you know the smell of iron and the sound of hammers is everywhere. Our shop is small and packed with all sorts of things we have collected over the years. It’s a bit of a squeeze when more than two people are inside at the same time. We usually spend our days chatting with the neighbors who also run shops along this stretch. Most of us have known each other for decades. We don’t use any fancy computers to keep track of things; we mostly rely on old registers and our memory. The street outside is narrow, so when a truck comes to drop off a load, everything else has to stop. It can be frustrating, but that is just how life is in Hathipole. We usually take a break in the afternoon to have some tea from the stall around the corner. It’s a noisy, busy place but it feels like home to us. We don’t try to be anything we aren’t. We just show up, open the shutters, and see what the day brings. It’s a simple way to run a business among friends and long-time neighbors who all know each other well.
