Jai Mata Di

We are right here in Gulab Bagh Kamlawadi. It’s a nice enough spot, though parking can be a bit of a headache during the busy hours. My family has been around this area for a long time so when we opened Jai Mata Di, it felt right to stay close to home. Most of our day is spent greeting the regulars and making sure we have what people need on the shelves. It’s not a huge operation. Sometimes the delivery truck comes late and we have to scramble a bit to get everything put away before the evening rush starts. We don't have a fancy website or a marketing person. It’s just us doing the work. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint but we haven't found the time yet. We usually open up early in the morning when the air is still cool. You can hear the sounds of the neighborhood waking up from our doorway. We deal with all sorts of people, from students to old folks who have lived in Kamlawadi forever. It’s a simple life. We don't think much about being the biggest, just about making sure the shop is open when people expect it to be. There’s always something to sweep or a box to move. If you come by, you’ll likely find one of us sitting behind the counter. That’s just how it goes here every day. It’s not a glamorous life but it suits us well enough.
