Out here in Hiran Magri Sector-6, Dinesh Electronics is where I spend most of my waking hours. The shop isn't very big, and it’s usually cluttered with half-opened televisions, tangled wires, and old remote controls. I’ve lived in this neighborhood my whole life, so most people who come in are neighbors or people I’ve known for years. I started by fixing small radios and now I deal with all sorts of gadgets that people bring in. Usually, they have dropped something or it just stopped working for no reason. I spend a lot of time hunched over a workbench with a soldering iron in my hand. It’s quiet work, except for the sound of the traffic outside or the occasional test of a speaker. I don't really have a big staff, just a young lad who helps me clean up and find parts in the back room. My desk is a mess of screws and capacitors, but I have a system for where everything goes. People come in to buy a new bulb or maybe a cable for their phone, and we talk for a bit while I look for change in the drawer. It’s a practical way to earn a living, and I like being able to fix things that people thought were broken for good. We don't have a website or anything, just the sign out front and a door that's usually left open for people to walk in.
