Carry On

Carry On is a small shop located at number 199 in Bapu Bazar. We’ve been here for quite some time, squeezed in between all the other businesses in this busy market. Our shop is mostly filled with different types of bags—backpacks, hand luggage, and small pouches for everyday use. It’s a bit of a squeeze inside because we try to keep a lot of variety for the people walking by. Bapu Bazar is always crowded, so we spend a lot of time standing near the entrance, watching the crowds and greeting people who look like they need something to carry their shopping in. The walls are covered from top to bottom with straps and zippers. We don't have a big marketing team or anything like that; it’s just us making sure the bags are displayed okay and that the zippers work like they should. Sometimes it gets a bit chaotic when a lot of tourists come through at once, but that is just part of being in this part of town. We use a simple ledger to keep track of our sales and we know the other shopkeepers around here pretty well. It’s a basic life, opening the shop early in the morning and closing up once the market starts to quiet down at night. We just want to make sure people have a decent bag to take home their things. It’s a plain, local business without any fuss.
