The office for Tniamp Thamirabarani Pasumai Farmer Producer Company Limited is in a house called MRM Illam. It is number 1/53 on the Main Road in Sivakali, Srivaikundam. We are down in the Eral taluk of Thoothukudi. Being near the Thamirabarani river is a big part of why we do what we do. The soil is good here, but there are always challenges with getting the crops to market or getting the right stuff to grow them. We are a group of farmers who just wanted to have a bit more control over our own work. The office at MRM Illam is where we handle the day-to-day business. It’s a busy place, especially in the mornings when people are heading out or coming back from the fields. We don't have a corporate feel at all. It’s more like a community spot. We talk about the water levels in the river and how the crops are looking in the Sivakali area. It takes a lot of effort to keep everything moving, and we all pitch in. We handle the sales and the supplies from here. It is a very direct way of working. Most of us have been farming in Srivaikundam for our whole lives. We know the land and we know the people. That is really the core of what we are doing here at the company. It’s just us doing what needs doing.
