Korkai Collective Farm Farmer Producercompany Limited

Our group is based over on North Road in Umarikaadu, which is part of the Eral Taluk area. We started this collective because doing everything alone as a single farmer was getting harder every year. Now, we use the space at D.No 488 to keep our records and meet up when there is something important to decide. Most of the people involved are from right here in Thoothukkudi. We aren't trying to be some big corporation with fancy offices. Our walls are plain, and the chairs are just whatever we could find, but it gets the job done for the farmers in our circle. We focus on the practical side of things, like how to get our produce moved or where to find better tools. It takes a lot of coordination to keep everyone on the same page, especially when we are all busy out in the fields most of the day. You can usually find someone at the office in the late afternoon once the sun starts to go down. We talk about the rain, the soil, and the crops we are growing this year. It feels more like a community gathering than a business meeting most of the time. Being part of this collective means we don't have to face the market alone. We are just local people trying to make a decent living from the land we’ve always known. It’s hard work, but we prefer it this way.
