Star Night Dance Group & Orchestra

Down here at No 11/5 on Madurai Road in Palakarai, things can get pretty loud when we are practicing. Star Night Dance Group & Orchestra is really just a bunch of us who enjoy music and putting on a show. We’ve been based in this part of Trichy for a long time. You can find us right in the Tiruchirappalli Ho area. It’s a lively neighborhood and that suits us perfectly. Most evenings, there is some kind of noise coming from our place as we go over routines or tune the instruments. We do all sorts of events, from small temple festivals to bigger stages where the whole orchestra gets to play together. It’s a lot of travel sometimes, packing up the drums and the costumes into the back of a van and heading out to different parts of the city. We don’t claim to be the fanciest group out there. We just like to perform. Sometimes a dancer misses a step or a singer has a rough night, but that’s just how live music goes. We keep it real. People in Palakarai see us around a lot. We’ve grown up in these streets and we know what kind of music the locals like to hear. It’s hard work, especially the late nights, but when the crowd starts clapping, it feels worth it. We just keep doing our thing, day after day, right here on Madurai Road.
