Garmentech Sewing Systems

Our place is at 69, A.R. Complex on Arcot Road. If you know Valasaravakkam, it is not hard to find. We have been working with sewing machines and all the parts that go into them for quite some years. The shop is full of boxes and old manuals. Often, people bring in machines that haven't worked in a decade hoping we can find a specific needle or a motor for them. It gets cramped inside because of all the equipment stacked up. I spend a lot of time cleaning grease off my hands. We see a lot of local tailors and also people who just sew at home for fun. It is interesting to see the different types of fabrics they talk about. The traffic outside on Arcot Road is always loud, so we usually keep the door shut to hear ourselves think. Most days involve testing out machines to make sure the stitching is straight and the tension is right. We don't have a big team, just a few of us who know our way around a bobbin and a motor. It is simple work but it keeps us busy from morning until the lights go off. Sometimes we run out of space for all the new stock coming in, so we have to shuffle things around constantly. It is just a normal day-to-day business here and we like it that way.
