Anchor Scales

Our business, Anchor Scales, is located at No 10, Meenambedu Road in Padi. We have been here for a good while now, dealing with all kinds of weighing equipment. The shop has everything from small digital scales for kitchens to the big heavy ones used in factories. It’s a very practical place. You won't find any soft chairs or fancy decorations here. Instead, there are weights and calibration tools sitting on almost every flat surface. We spend a lot of time making sure things are balanced perfectly. It’s a slow process sometimes, and it requires a bit of patience. People from the local markets often come to us when their scales start giving wrong readings. We also sell new units if someone is just starting a shop. The street outside is always busy with trucks, so it gets quite loud during the day. We have a small workbench in the back where we take the scales apart to see what’s wrong with the sensors or the springs. It’s greasy work sometimes, especially with the older mechanical scales. We don't do much talking unless it’s about the job. We like to get the work done and hand it back to the customer so they can get back to their trade. If you come by in the afternoon, you might see us out on the sidewalk testing one of the larger platform scales. It takes two of us to move those big ones, and we usually have to watch out for the traffic while we do it.
