G K V Bricks

G K V Bricks is located out in Ayacheri Village, near Pattabiram. It’s a bit of a drive from the main city, but this is where the space is. We have a large open area where we make and stack the bricks. It’s outdoor work, so we’re at the mercy of the weather. When it rains, everything slows down quite a bit. We use local clay and traditional kilns for most of our production. The workers live mostly in the village or close by. It’s a tough, physical job. We don’t have a fancy office; it’s just a small shed where we keep the ledgers and handle the payments. You’ll usually see piles of red bricks waiting to be loaded onto tractors. We’ve been in Pattabiram for a long time. People know us because they see our trucks on the local roads. We don’t do any marketing or have a website. If someone needs bricks for a house or a wall, they just show up and ask what we have in stock. It’s a very simple way of doing business. The dust gets everywhere, and our clothes are always stained red by the end of the day. It’s just how it goes when you’re making bricks. We try to keep the kiln fires steady and hope the wood arrives on time. It is a long day’s work for everyone involved here.
