Oxford Matric School

Oxford Matric School is located on Pollachi Road in Anaimalai. It is a very scenic part of the region with all the coconut groves and fields nearby. The school itself is at 88/2 and it’s been a fixture on this road for quite some time. The building is long and has a tiled roof in some parts which keeps it a bit cooler when the sun is beating down. We have a big gate at the entrance where the school buses pull in every morning from the surrounding villages. The classrooms are simple with big windows to let the air in since it can get quite humid here. You can hear the birds in the trees outside while the lessons are going on. Our staff are mostly local people who have been teaching here for years and they know the families in Anaimalai very well. The playground is quite large and has some old swings and a slide that are a bit rusty. During the break, the kids run around and the dust flies everywhere. We have a small office near the front where the clerk keeps all the records in big ledgers. It’s not a fancy place with high-tech classrooms, but it serves the community well. Parents often stop by to talk to the teachers under the shade of the big neem tree in the courtyard. It’s just a regular school where kids come to learn and play in a quiet, rural setting.
