Veerappa Dhall Mill

Veerappa Dhall Mill is located at 10 A, North Muthuraja Street in Puthur. We are quite easy to find if you look for the Agragaram Perumal Kovil, as we are right near the temple. Being so close to the temple means we hear the bells and the prayers every day, which is a nice backdrop to the work we do. The mill itself is an old-style setup. We process dhall, and that means there’s a lot of noise from the grinders and the sifters. It’s a dusty job, and we usually end the day covered in a bit of flour. North Muthuraja Street is a narrow one, and it gets busy with people going to the temple or just moving through Puthur. We’ve been at this spot for a long time. It’s a family-run kind of thing, where everyone knows their role. We don't have a big sign or anything flashy. People just know where Veerappa Dhall Mill is. We spend our time checking the quality of the grains and making sure the machines are running smoothly. Sometimes they break down, and we have to spend half the day fixing them ourselves. It’s not a glamorous life, but it’s steady. We like being part of the street and seeing our neighbors every day. It’s just us doing our work near the Perumal Kovil.
