You can find Thulasi Konar Dhall Mill at 36 Madurai Road in the Palakarai area. We have been milling dhall here for a good while. The machines make a lot of noise when they are running, so it is never really quiet inside. We spend most of our time cleaning the pulses and getting them ready for the grinding process. It is a dusty job and our clothes usually end up covered in fine powder by the end of the shift. Palakarai is a busy part of town, so there is always traffic moving past our front door on Madurai Road. We don’t have any fancy signs or big displays. People just know us for the work we do with the dhall. Usually, local shops and families come to us when they need their supply. We don't do much talk, just focus on the machines and the quality of the grain coming through. Sometimes the power goes out and everything stops, which is frustrating, but that’s just how it goes here. We have a small crew and we all know our roles. It isn’t a big factory or anything, just a local mill where we work hard every day. We start early when the air is still a bit cool and try to finish the main batches before the afternoon heat sets in. It’s a simple life and a simple business, but it keeps us all going. I guess we will be doing this as long as the machines keep turning.
