Sankar Rice Store

I spend most of my day at 78, Mokkaiyar Colony in Duraiyur. This is where Sankar Rice Store is. It is just a regular place with lots of heavy bags stacked up high against the walls. We have different kinds of rice in big sacks. Some are brown, some are white, and they all have their own smell when you open them. People from the colony come in and out all morning. They usually know what they want and don't spend much time talking because they have things to do at home. I spend a lot of time sweeping the floor because grains always fall out of the bags. It is a bit dusty here but that is just how a rice shop is. The door stays open to let the air move around, otherwise, it gets too hot inside. Sometimes the delivery trucks block the narrow road in Duraiyur while we unload. It is a lot of lifting and moving stuff around. I keep a small desk in the corner with a notebook to write things down. The light isn't very bright in the back of the store so I have to be careful when I am counting the stock. It is a simple life here in Mokkaiyar Colony. We just keep the bags full and wait for the next person to walk through the door. It is what we do every single day since we opened up here.
