Renga Vilas Rice Mill

Our mill is located at 26, Main Road, right in the Tiruchirappalli Fort area of Purathakudi. Renga Vilas Rice Mill has been a part of this street for quite some time now. Being near the old fort means there’s a lot of history around us, though we’re mostly focused on the rice sacks. The building is old, with thick walls that keep it somewhat cool, but the sound of the milling can be heard all the way down the block when we are busy. We don't have a big office or anything modern. It’s just the mill, the storage area, and a small wooden desk where we keep the receipts and the ledger. People come from all over Purathakudi to get their rice processed. We don’t do any marketing or have a website. We just open the doors in the morning and wait for the first cart or tractor to arrive. It’s a rhythmic kind of life. The smell of the toasted grain is always there, stuck in our clothes even after we go home. We aren't trying to expand into some huge company. We’re happy just staying here on the Main Road and doing what we’ve always done. Sometimes the neighbors come by just to talk about the local news, and we always have time for that. It’s a community thing as much as a business. We just keep the wheels turning for everyone.
